Ormond Quay Lower, Dublin1, Ireland
morrisonhotel.ie +353 188 72400
Absolutely central, but thankfully separated by the river Liffey from the bustle of Temple Bar. The new look is all leather, white walls, funky light fittings and a palette of purples and turquoises. The new fitness suite is not buried in the basement, but instead looks out onto a little second-floor landscaped patio. 145 spacious and modern bedrooms and suites are decorated in cool, neutral colours and boasting super-fast Wi-Fi. The Morrison is oriented towards nightlife, fashion and a nocturnal vibe, not cheap but fairly reasonable for the offer.

127-128, St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, Ireland
fitzwilliamhoteldublin.com +353 1 478 7000
The Fitzwilliam enjoys an excellent location, perched on the north-western corner of St Stephen’s Green. There are a great range of Dublin shops and cultural venues within walking distance: Grafton Street shopping is just seconds away on foot, while museums and galleries not much further. The Fitzwilliam has 139 rooms, so it’s a little large to be classed as boutique: but just the same, there’s a cosiness and charm here. The bedrooms are delightful, the bathrooms are spacious and newly renovated. Other nice touches include a library of books and a spa including hot and cold stones and aromatherapy.
