Amass restaurant boasts the relaxing atmosphere in a modern loft with its own garden. Guests have a view of the kitchen's garden, where they have planted vegetables and herbs that will be incorporated into the menu. Guests can expect to be served gourmet food of very high quality that can compete with some of the best restaurants, but at a better cost and with a more down to earth attitude to the gourmet experience.

Schønnemann is a popular restaurant with authentic atmosphere, where you can try the traditional Danish food "Smorrebrod" (a slice of bread with whatever - sea food, beef, eggs, cucumbers etc.). This classical lunch has been serving here since 1877 and some guests say that here is the best Smorrebrod in the city. There is also a good selection of beer and plenty of snaps to choose from. The staff is efficient and friendly. It is the great place especially for lunch. The restaurant also has a big terrace near the canal but there the menu is smaller than in the restaurant.

Almanak is located at the waterfront in the building "The Standard" together with a jazz club, two other restaurants (Studio and Indian Verandah) and two bars. This new complex was established in October 2013 by the international restaurater Claus Meyer from Noma, Meyers Madhus and jazz musician Niels Lan Doky. Almanak serves seasonal Danish classics. You can have here e.g. the traditional lunch - Smorrebrod (open sandwich) prepared in a creative style. Almanak is located on the ground floor and on Monday is closed. The capacity is 100 seats.

Kiin Kiin is the 1st Danish Asian restaurant which was awarded by the Michelin star. Restaurant give the best chance to get to know the essence of Thai kitchen - lovely meals in great portions. The service is brilliant. With quite a few Thai's working there, you get the authentic feeling from "the land of smiles", combined with the very modern - and at times maybe more "European" - Thai food.

The reputable, Michelin star awarded Kokkeriet is one of the best restaurants in Copenhagen. It is located off the hustle of the inner City in the cosy old quarter of Nyboder and occupies the 400 years old building. The restaurant offers very original and flavorsome meal. The reservation in advance is recommended. Plan to spend 2-3 hrs and take the time to taste the long menu. Also a wine selection and service is great.

Quite new restaurant Grønbech and Churchill was founded in 2011 and the following year was awarded by a Michelin star. The decor is very Scandinavian, bright and cosy with lots of candles. The staff is young and friendly. The cuisine is very creative and not too expensive (for a Michelin star). Try carpacioo hidden in onion leaves and breast of wild duck - both dishes are excellent.

Located in the nice area of Christianhavn (a short walk from Metro), the cosy restaurant Kadeau, offering fine Nordic cuisine, was awarded its 1st Michelin star in 2013. The food is creative and flavors outstanding. You can try dishes like zuchinni and haricot vert with Danish cheese or duckheart served on a bed of pine needles. A shorter menu option that won't break your budget is also available.

Den Rode Cottage was awarded by 5th Michelin star in 2014. The restaurant you can reach easily by train from downtown (15 min ride), and then walk along the endearing little path through the woods along the rail tracks. Then – like in a fairy tale - a red building will appear out of the woods with glittering candles in the windows and cheerful staff awaiting your arrival :-). Highlights on the menu are the Danish chicken & foie gras, and the fried cod with pickled green tomato. Take not more then 5 courses. The portions are quite large and the bread is amazing.

The Michelin star awarded Formel B restaurant offers innovative and classic French cuisine. The food is excellent (but be ready that portions are a little small), a staff is knowledgeable and gives great wine advice. The decor is rustic and minimal, but at the same time cosy and romantic.
