Located close to several other museums (e.g. Viking Ship and Maritime museum), Kon-tiki displays the exhibition of original vessels and artefacts from the world-renowned expeditions of Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002), as well as a library with about 8000 books. Kon-Tiki was the raft used by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl in his 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands.
