Founded in 1894, the Norwegian Folk museum is one of the oldest and largest Europe´s Open-Air museums and shows how people lived in Norway from 1500 to the present. The 160 traditional houses represent different regions in Norway in different period, as well diferences between towns and villages. One of 5 medieval buildings is Stave Church from the year 1200. Permanent indoor exhibitions include folk art, folk costumes, toys and Sami culture. There is also a variety of temporary exhibitions and audience programs all year round – such as horse and carriage rides, feeding of animals, handicraft demonstrations, baking etc.
