Jeanneke Pis
Impasse de la Fidélité 10-12, 1000 Bruxelles
Jeanneke Pis is a modern fountain and a small bronze sculpture of a peeing girl which forms a counterpoint in gender terms to the city's trademark Manneken Pis at the Grand Place (Grote Markt). The statue of a girl was created 1985 when the feministic movement got it through. It is located on the east side of the Impasse de la Fidélité / Getrouwheidsgang (Fidelity Alley). It is much less well known than its male counterpart, being a new addition instead of a centuries-old symbol of the city. The sculpture of Jeanneke Pis is currently protected by iron bars from vandalism.
