The Orthodox monastic complex Kiev Pechersk Lavra was founded in 1051 by pilgrim Antojin. He dug deeper cave and that´s why the monastery got a name “Pechersk” (Pečera means in Ukrainian a cave). The complex is divided into lower caves, where you can visit museums, and upper Lavra caves, which is the seat of the Church. In the 18th century after a devastating fire was reconstructed. The World War II. and the Communists meant for Lavra bad times. In 1988 the monastery was returned to the monastic community. In 1990 the Lavra was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also chosen as one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine.

Motherland Monument is a part of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. Designed by Yevgeny Vuchetich, the height of stainless steel statue from the pedestal to the end of the sword is 62 (203 ft) meters, overall height is 102 (335 ft) meters and weight is around 500 tons. The sword in the statue's right hand is 16 m (52 ft) long weighing 9 tons, with the left hand holding up a 13 by 8 m (43 by 26 ft) shield with the State Emblem of the Soviet Union. The sword of the statue was cut because the tip of the sword was higher than the cross of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.

Founded in 1969, Pirogovo is the biggest open-air museum of Folk architecture and culture in Europe. You´ll move backward into the past and discover the archictecture and life of Ukrainian regions - villages, common life of peasants, chapels, windmills... The oldest church - Naddnipryanska, was built in 1742. In the museum you can also find more than 40 000 items of household and traditional culture (costumes, old textiles, embroidery, carpets, ceramics, metal handicrafts, woodwork, glass-ware, musical instruments...). After the walking excursion you can take a horse-ride, have a traditional Ukrainian dinner (borsh, shashlik) and listen live music.

Due to the similar atmosphere of Montmartre in Paris is Andrew´s Descent called „Montmartre of Kiev“. It is one of the oldest streets in Kiev connecting St. Andrew´s Church and the Upper Town to Lower Town. . It is one of the major touristic attractions, famous for being the place where past writers, scholars and artists have lived and worked. There are many art galleries and souvenir shops with embroideries, painted pots, puppets, paintings, as well musician along the streets. The range includes souvenirs (mostly T-shirts) with slogan "Thanks God, I'm not Moskal." (Moskal - a word used by Ukrainians to insult Russians, especially those who come from Moscow).
