Saint-Pierre Cathedral

Place du Bourg-de-Four 24, 1204 Genève, Switzerland

Built in 12 century, this famous Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral with a Neoclassical facade dominates the center of Geneva. It is best known for its historic significance as the church where John Calvin (one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation) gave his inspiring sermons during the mid-16th century. Inside the church is a wooden chair used by Calvin. The area beneath the Cathedral has recently been excavated extensively, revealing a rich history of the site dating back to the time of the Roman Empire.
