Barcelona Overview

Barcelona, located between the sea and the wooden mountain of Collserola, is the dynamic and exciting capital of the distinctive Spanish province of Catalonia. It has its own language (a mix between Spanish and French) and interesting culture. The city has approximately 1,6 mil. inhabitants and was recently named one of the 50 most interesting places in the world by National Geographics. The people are at least as friendly as the rest of the Spaniards and the general knowledge of English is quite acceptable.

Barcelona is a very special city which you can´t see anywhere. For sure don´t miss to see the amazing Casa Mila, Sagrada Famiglia and park Guell - all designed by genius Antoni Gaudi. Just be ready for a long queue for the tickets to Sagrada F. Also I can recommend to go by a cable car to the Montjuïc hill but again we had to wait a few hours in a queue!

Such fantastic atmosphere like Barcelona has no city in the world! Buildings of Gaudi are something really crazy and special, I have never seen something like this. The spanish Tapas is a fantastic idea if you want to eat a variety of small things and Sangria (red wine with pieces of fruits) is fun to drink. Just be careful about pickpockets (especially on Rambla boulevard!). A great city for weekend!

Yes Barcelona has lot to offer. During our visit last year we especially enjoyed the Picasso Museum and took all day tour to Montserrat Monastery, Little out of the way but really worth the trip. Perched on side of the hill , about 2 hours out of Barcelona , one wonders how it was build and how much effort it must have been to create such a beautifull place on steep hillside.Well the result is fantastic and you sholuld spend 2-3 hours up there, just wonder around and see it all

I´ve enjoyed this city delightfully! In summer weather is hot-just made for a long days spend on a beach. However, in the night the city gets busy and full of adventures. People are eating and drinking outside. Parties are till the sun goes up and people are enormously sweet. Although, dont forget to leave a tip everywhere- even taxy drivers expect it. Just be careful about pickpockets in the subways- your iphone might dissapear!

The first thing i noticed in Barcelona was not about architecture or the weather. It was about the people living there. Every single stranger i talked to was unbelievebly friendly and respectful. I also enjoyed learning about the culture and history of Barcelona

Good weather, good food and nice people. The atmosphere in Barcelona is incredible. A really dynamic city, with lots of places to visits and to shop. Maybe one of the best things is how well connected and extended is the public transport (the metro arrives nearly everywhere, and it's quite fast). The beach is a must place to be (I recommend La Barceloneta beach side), though it can be really crowded on summer. Try to avoid eating a paella there, and ask locals where to find the really quality ones.
