Manneken Pis

rue de l’Etuve 31, 1000 Brussels

To see the Manneken Pis (peeing naked boy) is a must when you visit a Brussels. It is a small bronze sculpture which was created in 1619 by Hiëronymus Duquesnoy the Elder and it is the most famous symbol of the city. The statue is dressed in costume several times each week, according to a published schedule which is posted on the railings around the fountain. His wardrobe consists of more then 700 different costumes, many of which may be viewed in a permanent exhibition inside the City Museum, located in the Grand Place, immediately opposite the Town Hall. Tourists can be disappointed when they come and see that in reality the sculpture is smaller than expected from pictures.
