Ice Music Festival is an amazing, unique event where all music instruments and all stage decorations are created from a real ice. It is a celebration of water which is the most important natural resource. This festival is held annually for three days in January in the mountain town Gailo, located exactly in the middle, between Oslo and Bergen (about 220 km from each city). Artists are mostly from Norway, Sweden and Estonia.

Founded in 1923, the Holmenkollen Ski museum is the world's oldest ski museum and it is one of the most popular attractions in Oslo. It presents over 4,000 years of skiing history. The futuristic-looking Jump Ski Tower offers panoramic views of Oslo. It is the newest, most modern sky jump in the world. Visitors can experience how to perform ski jumps on the ski simulators. It is open daily.

The Vigeland Park is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist, and is one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. The park is open to visitors all year round. The unique sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. The Park was completed between 1939 and 1949.

Founded in 1894, the Norwegian Folk museum is one of the oldest and largest Europe´s Open-Air museums and shows how people lived in Norway from 1500 to the present. The 160 traditional houses represent different regions in Norway in different period, as well diferences between towns and villages. One of 5 medieval buildings is Stave Church from the year 1200. Permanent indoor exhibitions include folk art, folk costumes, toys and Sami culture. There is also a variety of temporary exhibitions and audience programs all year round – such as horse and carriage rides, feeding of animals, handicraft demonstrations, baking etc.

Akershus Castle and Fortress

Akershus a medieval castle, built in the 13th century by King Haakon V to protect Oslo. The Castle was lately used as a prison, in the early 17th century was rebuilt into a renaissance castle by King Christian IV. The fort is still used by the army and it is partially open to the public. Among other things, there are tombs of several members of the royal family and two museums with a military theme. The walls overlooking the harbor and the center of Oslo, including local town hall.

The Viking Ship museum is a part of the Museum of Cultural History of the University of Oslo, and houses archaeological finds from Tune, Gokstad (Sandefjord), Oseberg (Tønsberg) and the Borre mound cemetery. The biggest attractions are two the world´s best-preserved wooden Viking ships built in the 9th century. Beside these artefacts you can see there tools, harness, small boats, sledges, textiles and much more.

Munch museum

The museum is dedicated to the life and works of the Norwegian expressionistic painter Edvard Munch (1863-1944). The collection consists of a large number of paintings, graphical prints and drawings. It is oferred also an audio tours in Norwegian and in English and a permanent documentary exhibition. Films about Edvard Munch's life and art are screened periodically during the museum's opening hours. In 2004, the most famous paintings "The Scream" and "Madonna" were stolen from the Munch Museum by professional art thieves, and were both recovered two years later. The museum is closed on Tuesday.

Kon-Tiki was the raft used by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl in his 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands.
